The 90-second rule for event films

Nobody rewatches the ten-minute recap. How to cut an event film people actually finish.

The 90-second rule for event films

The ten-minute event recap is a genre nobody asked for. The people who were there don’t need it, and the people who weren’t won’t sit through it.

Cut for the people who weren’t there

Ninety seconds forces you to keep only the moments that carry energy: the room filling, the reaction, the one line worth remembering. That’s the film that sells next year’s ticket.

If a clip doesn’t make someone feel like they missed out, it doesn’t make the cut.

Save the long version for archive

By all means keep a longer edit for internal use. But the piece you publish should be short, sharp and built to be shared, not endured.
